What is Terra Nostrum? A self-contained, semi-automated space ark (world-ship), composed of both organic and mineral materials, embedded in an asteroid (33 km long and 15 km wide). Its purpose is to traverse the Milky Way, hopping from star to star, from one life-sustaining solar system to another (approximately 100,000), and to spread human life (which is threatened on Earth in the long term).
Aside from a few major technological components designed for durability and easy maintenance (nuclear combustion engine, lateral thrusters, giant telescope, etc.), the vast majority of the ark was excavated, built, and equipped on-site by biots (organic robots) and bio-mechas (organic androids), and designed to be completely autonomous and sustainable over the very, very, very long term (millions of years).
The asteroid in which the ark was built acts as a shield, protecting its occupants (biots and bio-mechs) and its technological equipment from the harsh realities of space (radiation, impacts, extreme cold and heat, etc.).
A marvel of biotechnology and biomechanics, representing the pinnacle of what humanity has been able to imagine and conceptualize.
A semi-organic world-ship, then; almost entirely built by biots, following a model of collective intelligence.
Qu'est-ce que le Terra Nostrum ? Une arche spatiale (vaisseau monde) autonome et semi-automatisée, organique et minérale, enchâssée dans un astéroïde (de 33 kms de long, pour 15 de large). Sa vocation est d'arpenter la voie lactée, par un jeu de "saute moutons" entre les étoiles, système solaire favorable à la vie après système solaire favorable à la vie (100 000 environ) et d'y essaimer la vie humaine (menacée en tant que telle, sur Terre, à plus ou moins long terme).
Hormis quelques éléments technologiques majeurs, faits pour durer et être facilement entretenus (moteur à explosion nucléaire, propulseurs latéraux, télescope géant...), la très grande majorité de l'arche a été creusée, bâtit et aménagée sur place, par des biots (robots organiques) et des bio-méchas (androïdes organiques) et pensée pour être totalement autonome et durable sur le très, très, très long terme (millions d'années).
L'astéroïde dans lequel a été construite l'arche constitue un bouclier qui protège ses occupants (biots et bio-méchas) et ses équipements technologiques, des agressions du cosmos (radiations, impacts, froid et chaleur extrêmes, etc).
Un bijou de biotechnologie et de biomécanique, au top de ce que l'humanité a pu imaginer et conceptualiser.
Un vaisseau monde semi organique, donc ; quasi entièrement bâtit par des biots, suivant un modèle d'intelligence collective.
